Common Questions

Tesla Wall Connector FAQ

How long does Tesla Wall Connector installation take?

Most installations are completed in 2–4 hours in a single visit. Straightforward installs — garage wall, panel nearby, no conduit run — are on the shorter end. Longer wire runs, panel upgrades, or outdoor installations take more time. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we assess your setup.

How much does Tesla Wall Connector installation cost in Pennsylvania?

Most installations in Central PA range from $500–$1,200 for a standard indoor or garage install. Longer conduit runs, outdoor weatherproof installs, or panel upgrades run $1,200–$2,500+. Every estimate is free and includes a panel load assessment so you know exactly what you're looking at before committing.

Does Tesla Wall Connector installation require a permit in Pennsylvania?

It depends on the municipality. Some require an electrical permit for new 240V circuits, others don't. We handle permit research and pulling as part of the job — you don't need to worry about it. All work is done to NEC code and inspection-ready whether a permit is required or not.

Can a Tesla Wall Connector be installed outside?

Yes — the Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 is rated for outdoor use (NEMA 3R). We install them on exterior garage walls, under carports, and on house exteriors regularly. Outdoor installs require weatherproof conduit, proper GFCI protection, and correct mounting height. We handle all of it.

What amperage should I install — 48A or 60A?

The Tesla Wall Connector is configurable from 15A to 48A. Most home installs use a 60A breaker (48A continuous) which gives you the full 44 miles of range per hour of charge — more than enough to top off overnight. A 60A circuit on a 100A panel may require a load assessment first, which we do for free at every estimate.

Do I need a panel upgrade for a Tesla Wall Connector?

Not always. Most homes with a 200A panel have enough capacity. Homes with 100A panels — common in older Central PA houses — sometimes need an upgrade depending on existing load. We assess your panel at every estimate and tell you straight whether you need an upgrade or not. No upselling, just honest advice.

Is the Tesla Wall Connector compatible with other EVs?

Yes — the Gen 3 Wall Connector supports the NACS connector standard, which is now being adopted across Ford, GM, Rivian, and other brands. If you have a non-Tesla EV, you can also install a NEMA 14-50 outlet or a universal Level 2 charger instead. We'll recommend the right solution for your vehicle.
