A homeowner in Tyrone had just picked up a new Lexus RZ 350e and wanted a Tesla Wall Connector installed in the detached garage where they park. The RZ is one of the newer EVs that ships with a native NACS port — Tesla's plug, built right in — so it charges straight off a Tesla Wall Connector with no adapter and no workarounds. It's a good example of how a Tesla charger isn't just for Tesla drivers anymore.
The space was a detached garage — concrete walls and slab below, wood framing and beautiful exposed beams above, but no finished walls to fish wire through and a fair distance from where the feed came in. Burying anything in that structure would have meant tearing into finish work that didn't need touching. So instead of hiding the run, I made it part of the build: a clean surface EMT conduit path anchored right along the header beam over the garage door, with tight, square bends dropping down to the charger.
The result is a hardwired Tesla Wall Connector on a dedicated circuit, conduit that looks like it belongs on that beam, and a cable that coils up out of the way when it's not in use. Powered up, green light on, the RZ charging on its own driveway that same visit — no drywall cuts, no mess left behind, and a route that's fully accessible if anything ever needs service down the road.
